Here's an opener, I skipped class on that day! Haha!
Ever since foundation time (that was 3 years ago!) I wanted to visit Penang-"benang" for it's food, it's beach, and the fun of sightseeing there!
Last week, I finally had the chance and actually went there! Although it was only a day trip, but it's well worth it. Heck, I even skipped classes for it haha :D
Why of all days, months and years, I choose that particular day and went Penang?
Just because...:D
KL Sentral usual crowds. People flooding the platform to get into the train.
Ipoh Station. A bit deserted.
I didn't went to Penang straightaway though but rather make a stop at Ipoh for a day.Normally, as a foodie, I will go for food hunting whenever I'm travelling with friends or alone. Unfortunately during that time, it was CNY day as well so most of the hawker and shops at Ipoh were close and I was unable to go neither food hunting nor sightseeing.
The next morning, I went to the bus station to go to Penang.
Here's an OBVIOUS tip for the day. If, by any chance, you're attending a party, event, meeting at a particular time, do come 30 minutes late. All Malaysians do that.
Ok. I'm exaggerating. MOST Malaysians do that.
Anyway,
what's supposed to be a 8.15 am bus, becomes 9 am. But that's ok. At least I'm on the move!
Only 2+ hours to Penang! :D
Oh wait. It stopped. Apparently the bus driver forgot "something". Ok. Nevermind.
Then finally on the way.

and STOPPED again.
"Kita berhenti berehat sekejap ye"
Seriously? It's just 2 hours drive and ALMOST reach there and he wanted to stop for a rest.
Having to endure the driver's nonsense shennanigans for the entire trip, I finally arrived at Penang.
Or am I?
"Butterworth Bus Stop".
Wait, what?!
I wasn't suppose to stop here.
"Kita berhenti berehat dan makan kat sini dulu ok"
He could've drove to the island first and eat his lunch there for goodness sake. How many times he wanted to rest -_-
Growing impatience, I tried to talk sense to the driver. Finally, he comes back to the bus and drove me to the appopriate bus stop on the island. It seems that as I
was the only passengers going to the island at that time, it doesn't seems much importance to him. His lunch is more important than a passenger apparently.
aaaaaanddd soooo...I arrived on the island at 11.15am. A supposedly 2 hours journey became 4 hours journey. It doesn't matter as I finally reached Penang! :D
At Sg. Nibong station, Penang. Waiting for her =)
Look how deserted it is lol.
Since I only have a day half a day left, all my plans and activities were cut short and rushed.
But first, lunchtime! :D
Half-eaten Penang Char keuy teow.
Finally got the chance to taste this!
Her almond tea. :S
After that, onwards to Bukit Bendera!
Even on work day, the place is crowded! :S
Local and foreigners alike flood the place. Luckily we went ahead and bought the train ticket while everyone is still busy eating.
Atop this hill, you can view half of Penang Island. And with the cool temperature, the spectacular views and greeneries, it's perfect for the avid photohographer. How I wish I have the oversize-expensive-camera to take pictures with at that time :-/
Anyway, next. Straits Quay! :D
To be honest, I don't know what is Straits Quay. An attraction site? Yes. Shopping mall? Port? Housing area? Resort? Hotel? Esplanade? No idea. But who cares. The place is too darn beautiful!
Super-cute kid!
This.Is.Cake! :O
Charlie Brown! =)
and finally, we went to the beach.
The last place I went before going back to KL.
Her melancholic pose.
My melancholic pose.
❤
And thus conclude my backpack journey throughout 2 states, Ipoh and Penang.
There's still a lot of places I wanted to go but time is not on my side. But there's always next time :)
With a heavy heart, I left Penang. But I'll surely come back another time :)
Penang bridge. I did not have the chance to take good picture of it.
